Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Rain showers will continue to affect the Philadelphia region and surrounding areas through the middle of the week, with localized flooding a concern. The National Weather Service predicts rainfall totals could reach up to 1.5 inches by Wednesday, with heavier amounts possible in some areas.

According to the NWS Mount Holly office, the rainfall will be intermittent, allowing for dry periods in between showers, which should help limit widespread flooding. However, some urban areas and locations with poor drainage could still face flash flooding. The heaviest rain is expected along parts of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware, where areas north of Philadelphia may receive up to 1.5 inches by midweek.

In particular, New Jersey’s central and southern regions, including cities like Trenton and Atlantic City, are under the highest risk for minor flooding. Local roadways may be impacted, with minor ponding of water on streets. Drivers are urged to remain cautious and avoid non-essential travel, especially in areas with known drainage issues.

As the weather progresses, the system will gradually shift, and conditions should improve by the end of the week. Be prepared for the possibility of further rain showers and flooding advisories, and check local reports for the latest updates.
