Washington, D.C. – A winter storm is set to impact northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C., with up to 6 inches of snow expected starting Tuesday afternoon. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning, warning of dangerous road conditions and reduced visibility during commutes.

According to the National Weather Service, snow will begin late Tuesday afternoon, becoming heavy in the evening before transitioning to a mix of snow and rain overnight. Snowfall totals of 4 to 6 inches are likely, with slippery roads and hazardous driving conditions expected during peak commuting hours.

Tuesday: Snow develops after 4 p.m., mixing with rain overnight. High near 34°F.

Wednesday: Snow continues until 1 p.m., then turning to rain. High near 37°F.

Thursday: Chance of morning rain, then partly sunny. High near 48°F.

Friday: Mostly sunny with a high near 38°F.

Travelers are urged to delay travel if possible, allow extra time, and use caution on roads, especially on I-95 and the Beltway.
