On Sunday, November 3, at 2 a.m., Daylight Saving Time will end, prompting people nationwide to “fall back” one hour. The shift allows most Americans to gain an extra hour of sleep, but it’s also a valuable reminder to complete safety checks around the home.

The National Weather Service recommends using this time to inspect and change the batteries in your NOAA Weather Radio, smoke alarms, and carbon monoxide detectors. These devices play critical roles in home safety, and maintaining them could save lives.

Clocks that don’t adjust automatically should be set back by one hour before going to bed on Saturday night. This practice ensures clocks align correctly when the time change takes effect.

Daylight Saving Time began in March and runs until early November each year, affecting most states. Arizona and Hawaii, however, opt out, keeping the same time year-round.

Don’t miss this opportunity to get your home ready for winter while staying safe and in sync with the new time.
