Atlanta, GA – Georgia residents should prepare for severe storms, heavy rain, and strong winds as a powerful weather system moves through the region this week. A tornado watch is in effect until 9 a.m. Monday, and a wind advisory remains active until noon.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), thunderstorms will develop overnight into early Monday, bringing wind gusts up to 60 mph and heavy rainfall. Some storms may produce isolated tornadoes, particularly in west-central Georgia. Localized flooding is also a concern, with new rainfall amounts ranging from a quarter to half an inch, with higher totals in thunderstorms.

Storms will clear by Monday evening, but windy conditions will persist. Tuesday will be partly sunny with a high of 56°F, while another round of rain is expected Wednesday, with an 80% chance of showers.

Residents should secure outdoor objects, prepare for possible power outages, and avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather. Stay updated with alerts from the NWS and local officials.
