Albany, NY – A major winter storm will impact eastern New York and western New England from Saturday night into Sunday morning. Heavy snowfall and hazardous travel conditions are expected.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Albany, Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for areas south of I-90. Snow accumulation remains uncertain in northern regions, but significant snowfall is likely. Forecast models show an 80% or higher chance of six inches of snow in Albany, Pittsfield, and Manchester.

Travel conditions will worsen as snow intensifies overnight. Officials advise residents to avoid unnecessary travel. Those who must drive should use caution and prepare for reduced visibility.

Cold temperatures and strong winds may create additional hazards, including power outages and drifting snow. The storm is expected to taper off by Monday morning.

Residents should monitor weather updates and prepare emergency kits with essentials such as food, water, and flashlights.
