Philadelphia, PA — Southern New Jersey residents are urged to remain cautious as Coastal Flood Warnings are in place through Monday, following moderate flooding on Sunday. The first official day of autumn brings pleasant temperatures in the 70s, but high tides and ongoing rain create dangerous conditions along coastal roads.

According to the National Weather Service, areas including Cape May and Cumberland counties face moderate flooding risks, especially near the Delaware Bay. Residents and visitors along U.S. Route 47 and nearby coastal roadways should monitor updates, avoid flooded roads, and secure property in flood-prone areas.

Beachgoers should take note: dangerous rip currents along the Jersey Shore and Delaware beaches will persist into Monday. The NWS has issued advisories urging swimmers to stay near lifeguards and remain vigilant if entering the water. Rip currents can sweep even strong swimmers out to sea quickly.

Looking ahead, Monday is expected to bring continued sunny skies, but risks of rip currents and coastal flooding will linger. Plan for cooler temperatures mid-week, with scattered showers possible by Wednesday. Stay tuned for updates as these warnings may be extended into Tuesday.
