Dodge City, KS – Roads across central and southwest Kansas remain icy as temperatures stay below freezing and snowfall continues. Drivers are strongly advised to avoid travel as hazardous conditions persist. Major routes like US-40 and K-10 remain partially or completely ice-covered, with closures reported in northeast Kansas.

According to KanDrive.gov, purple-marked roads indicate full ice coverage, while blue lines show partial ice, stretching across multiple counties. Blowing snow overnight will worsen visibility and road conditions. Wind chill values are expected to drop below zero through Monday, adding further risk for those outdoors.

A winter storm warning remains in effect through early Sunday morning, with winds gusting up to 40 mph, making travel even more treacherous. The Kansas Highway Patrol recommends delaying all non-essential travel and checking KanDrive.gov for real-time updates on closures and conditions.

The forecast for the week shows slightly improving conditions by Monday, with sunny skies and a high near 24 degrees. However, nights will remain frigid, with lows dipping to around -1. Tuesday brings a bit of relief, with highs reaching 34, before temperatures drop again overnight.

Residents should remain prepared for icy walkways, potential power outages, and additional snowfall. Keep emergency kits stocked and avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve.
