Atlanta, GA – Residents in southwest Georgia, Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle face a marginal risk for severe weather today. The National Weather Service warns of possible damaging winds and brief tornadoes between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, a Level 1 (Marginal) threat exists across the region, including Columbus, Macon, and surrounding areas. Isolated wind gusts could exceed 60 mph, and a weak tornado cannot be ruled out. Heavy rainfall may accompany thunderstorms, leading to localized flooding concerns.

Communities in southern Alabama and the Florida Panhandle, particularly near Dothan and Tallahassee, should also prepare for severe weather. Meteorologists urge residents to secure outdoor objects and stay alert to changing conditions.

Keep weather radios or alerts enabled on mobile devices for up-to-date warnings. Seek shelter indoors if a warning is issued.
