Dallas, Texas – Drivers across North Texas are waking up to dangerously low visibility as dense fog blankets the region Thursday morning, causing major slowdowns across interstates and city roads.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, a Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. CDT for much of north central and northeast Texas, including Dallas, Tarrant, Denton, Collin, Grayson, and Hopkins counties. Visibility in some areas may drop to a quarter mile or less.
Communities from Gainesville to Paris and down through Waxahachie and Corsicana are experiencing thick fog that could affect school drop-offs and the early commute. Major routes like I-35, U.S. 75, and I-20 may see congestion as drivers reduce speed and rely on low-beam headlights.
Travelers are urged to allow extra time, avoid sudden stops, and maintain safe distances between vehicles. Fog tends to linger in low-lying and rural areas longer, especially near rivers and open fields.
Conditions are expected to gradually improve after 10 a.m., but drivers should remain cautious throughout the morning. Additional advisories may be issued if visibility remains limited.
