Dallas, TX – A prolonged cold snap continues across North Texas, with sub-freezing temperatures expected to persist until midweek. The National Weather Service (NWS) has extended a Cold Weather Advisory through Wednesday at 9 a.m., urging residents to prepare for frigid conditions.
According to the NWS, Tuesday night will see a low of 23 degrees under clear skies. Northwest winds will calm, shifting to the south by morning. A modest relief arrives Wednesday, with temperatures climbing to 50 degrees—a much-anticipated warm-up after days of freezing weather. Winds from the southwest could reach up to 25 mph, adding to the chill.
Despite the brief respite, temperatures are expected to drop back into the 20s Wednesday night, with clear skies continuing into Thursday. Highs will hover near 50 degrees for the latter half of the week, offering slightly warmer daytime conditions.
Residents are urged to take precautions to protect pipes, pets, and plants as the advisory remains in effect. Local officials recommend limiting time outdoors and ensuring proper insulation for homes. Motorists should watch for slick spots, especially in shaded areas and on elevated roadways like the Northwest Highway.
Looking ahead, Friday brings another slight warm-up, with highs reaching 56 degrees, but nighttime lows will stay in the 30s through the weekend. A chance of rain returns Saturday, making it essential to stay updated on local forecasts.
Stay tuned for weather updates, and take precautions as Dallas works through the coldest stretch of the season.
