Corpus Christi, Texas – Triple-digit temperatures are gripping South Texas this week, with highs near 101°F in Laredo and widespread 95–99°F heat inland creating a moderate to major risk of heat-related illness, especially through the upcoming weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, a dangerous heat dome will intensify through Sunday, with heat indices topping 105°F in cities like Alice, Freer, and Cotulla. A 35% chance of midweek storms may briefly cool Victoria and Port Lavaca on Wednesday, but forecasters say any relief will be short-lived.

Corpus Christi is expected to hit 89°F today, with temperatures climbing into the upper 90s by Friday. Along the coast, Rockport and Port Lavaca may see slightly cooler temps in the low 90s, but humidity will keep conditions oppressive. Overnight lows will offer little recovery, staying above 75°F for most areas.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit time outdoors during peak heat, and check on vulnerable neighbors. TXDOT advises avoiding car travel with pets or children in unattended vehicles. Beachgoers should also be aware of UV index levels and moderate surf risks, particularly in Port Aransas.

Excessive heat warnings could be issued later this week as temperatures rise further.
