Grand Junction, CO – A freeze warning is in effect until 10 a.m. today across Grand Junction as temperatures dip below freezing. Residents should take precautions to protect sensitive plants and outdoor plumbing from the cold. As the morning progresses, expect clear skies with a gradual warm-up to a high of 58°F, offering a relatively mild and sunny day. However, more dramatic weather changes are on the horizon.

According to the National Weather Service, a mix of sunny and partly cloudy skies will continue through Saturday, with highs near 64°F. By Saturday night, clouds will increase, bringing a 40% chance of showers after midnight. This shift marks the start of a more active weather pattern, with a cold front expected to bring rain to the area on Sunday. Daytime highs on Sunday will reach around 51°F, but precipitation chances rise to 80% by evening, potentially creating wet road conditions on highways, including I-70.

By Sunday night, temperatures are forecast to drop to 33°F, raising the potential for a wintry mix of rain and snow in the higher elevations around Grand Junction. Early Monday morning could bring a mix of rain and snow showers, with highs peaking at 48°F. The cooler trend is set to continue into early next week, with nighttime lows dropping into the 20s on Monday and Tuesday.

As winter weather approaches, residents and travelers along I-70 should prepare for changing conditions, especially in mountain areas. With freezing temperatures and precipitation ahead, motorists are advised to drive cautiously, especially during nighttime hours.
