Denver, CO – Colorado residents are urged to prepare for slick roads and freezing temperatures tonight as snow diminishes across the region. A weekend storm brought snow to higher elevations and the plains, causing hazardous travel conditions that are expected to ease by Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), light snow is tapering off this evening, with minimal additional accumulation of up to 1 inch in foothills and mountainous areas. Temperatures tonight will plunge to a low of 9 degrees, prompting drivers to exercise caution on icy roads, especially along I-70 and other mountain routes.

Sunny skies will return Monday, with daytime highs reaching the mid-40s in Denver and the Urban Corridor. Residents in the mountains can expect highs in the 30s. Winds will remain light, offering a calmer start to the week. Overnight lows will dip to 15 degrees.

Tuesday and Wednesday will continue the warming trend, with highs reaching the upper 40s to near 50 degrees. Skies will remain mostly clear, creating favorable conditions for outdoor activities and travel.

Despite the improved forecast, NWS advises those traveling in higher elevations to remain vigilant for icy patches, particularly in shaded areas. Warmer weather will persist into Thursday, but snow could return later in the week as another system develops.

Stay informed of changing conditions through official weather updates and avoid unnecessary travel during icy conditions tonight.
