Grand Junction, CO – A winter storm is set to bring heavy snowfall and strong winds across Colorado’s mountain regions starting Tuesday morning, prompting a Winter Weather Advisory from the National Weather Service.

According to the NWS Grand Junction, the advisory will be in effect from 6 a.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday, impacting areas including the Roan and Tavaputs Plateaus, Uncompahgre Plateau, Dallas Divide, and the San Juan Mountains. Expected snow accumulations range from 4 to 9 inches, with wind gusts reaching up to 60 mph.

Additional areas under the advisory include the Elkhead and Park Mountains, Flat Tops, Grand and Battlement Mesas, and the Gore and Elk Mountains. These regions may see between 6 and 12 inches of snowfall, with wind gusts as high as 50 mph.

Travel conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly, with difficult driving conditions likely for both the morning and evening commutes on Tuesday. Strong winds could lead to blowing snow and reduced visibility, as well as potential tree damage.

Motorists are urged to slow down and exercise caution while traveling. The latest road conditions can be obtained by calling 511. Residents should prepare for winter weather impacts, secure outdoor objects, and plan for possible travel delays through midweek.
