Goodland, KS – A winter weather advisory is in effect for parts of eastern Colorado, bringing heavy wet snow, freezing drizzle, and dense freezing fog through 1 p.m. MST Thursday. The storm is expected to create hazardous travel conditions, especially on bridges and overpasses.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory covers Cheyenne, Kit Carson, and Yuma counties, where snowfall totals could reach up to four inches. Freezing drizzle and fog may lead to light ice accumulation, increasing the risk of slick roads and visibility restrictions.

The heaviest snow is expected west of a Wray-to-Flagler line in Kit Carson and Yuma counties, where a heavy snow band could develop, leading to sharp variations in accumulation. Eastern portions of these counties will likely see more freezing drizzle and fog.

Officials urge drivers to slow down and use caution. For updated road conditions, travelers can dial 511 in Kansas, Nebraska, and Colorado. Authorities also warn against using GPS for alternate routes and remind motorists that bridges and overpasses may freeze before main roadways.

Residents should prepare for possible power disruptions due to the weight of wet snow on trees and power lines.
