Pueblo, Colo. – Travelers crossing Colorado’s high mountain passes should expect slick, snow-covered roads and reduced visibility through early Monday as a winter weather advisory remains in effect.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, the advisory covers elevations above 10,000 feet from 6 a.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday. Affected areas include Wolf Creek Pass, Climax, Bonanza, North Pass, and Cumbres Pass, with 4 to 8 inches of snow expected and wind gusts reaching up to 50 mph.
The advisory includes the Eastern Sawatch, La Garita, and Eastern San Juan Mountains, as well as the Western Mosquito Range and East Lake County. Blowing snow could reduce visibility and create treacherous driving conditions, particularly on bridges and high-elevation routes.
Drivers are urged to slow down and use extreme caution. CDOT recommends avoiding unnecessary travel in the advisory zone, especially during peak snowfall. Chain laws may go into effect on certain passes.
This late-season snowstorm could mark one of the final major accumulations before summer. Winter driving conditions will linger through early Monday, with additional alerts possible if snow bands intensify overnight.
