Pueblo, CO – A winter storm warning remains in effect for parts of Colorado’s mountainous regions, with heavy snow expected to continue through 6 p.m. MDT on Saturday, April 19, 2025. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued the warning for the Eastern San Juan and Sangre de Cristo Mountains, including high-altitude areas such as Cumbres Pass, Wolf Creek Pass, Poncha Pass, and Blanca Peak.

The storm is expected to bring snow accumulations between 6 and 20 inches, depending on the location. Winds will also gust as high as 40 mph in some areas, further complicating travel conditions. The NWS advises that road conditions in these regions could become treacherous, particularly at higher elevations, making travel difficult.

Residents and travelers are urged to be prepared. If traveling in the affected areas, it’s recommended to keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. For the latest updates on road conditions, drivers should call 511.

The winter storm warning highlights the significant snow and gusty conditions expected in these mountain regions, so travelers are encouraged to take caution and avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve.
