Denver, CO – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Denver has issued a Red Flag Warning for parts of northern Colorado, effective Monday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. MDT. The warning covers Larimer, Weld, Logan, Sedgwick, and Phillips counties, where dry and windy conditions will increase wildfire risk.
According to the NWS, west winds of 10-20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph will combine with humidity levels as low as 9%, creating a heightened fire danger. These conditions could lead to rapid fire spread, making outdoor burning and spark-producing activities extremely hazardous.
Residents in the affected areas should take precautionary measures, including avoiding open flames and properly disposing of cigarette butts. Fire officials urge extreme caution, as any new fires could quickly grow out of control.
The Red Flag Warning highlights ongoing fire weather concerns in the region, with warm temperatures and persistent dry conditions continuing to pose challenges. Officials recommend staying alert for any emergency updates and adhering to local fire restrictions.
