Grand Junction, CO – Snow showers are set to impact parts of western Colorado today and tonight, with 1-3 inches of accumulation expected in the mountains, including areas along I-70. Temperatures remain well below freezing, and more snow is anticipated this weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, snow showers will taper off by Thursday afternoon. Today’s high is forecast to reach 33°F, with increasing clouds into the evening. Tonight’s low will drop to a frigid 10°F. Drivers should exercise caution as icy patches are likely on mountain roads.
Thursday is expected to remain dry and sunny, with a high of 33°F and calm winds. By Saturday, a new system will arrive, bringing a 30% chance of snow showers by late morning and continued flurries overnight. Accumulations remain uncertain but could impact travel across the region.
Weekend highs will reach 43°F on Saturday and 42°F on Sunday, with lows dropping to around 18°F each night. Conditions will stay partly cloudy heading into next week.
Motorists traveling through mountain passes, including I-70 and U.S. Highway 50, are advised to monitor forecasts and carry emergency kits in their vehicles. Snow chains may be required in higher elevations as additional systems move through by the weekend.
