Denver, Colorado – Temperatures across Colorado are expected to soar into the upper 80s Sunday, with the state’s urban corridor seeing highs approaching the low 90s. Mountain communities will be in the 70s, while afternoon thunderstorms are likely to develop in the higher elevations and push eastward into the plains.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, dry conditions at the surface will limit widespread precipitation. However, localized thunderstorms will generate gusty winds that could reach speeds of over 40 mph by late afternoon and early evening. These outflow winds may lead to hazardous conditions, especially near any rain showers or storms.

Motorists should exercise caution, particularly in areas where storms develop, as strong winds could reduce visibility and make driving difficult. The high winds will also increase the fire risk, especially in dry, brush-heavy areas.

As the day progresses, it’s advisable for Coloradans to stay aware of changing weather conditions and take precautions, including securing outdoor objects and checking for any weather advisories. Warnings may be issued if conditions worsen.
