Pueblo, CO – Heavy snow is sweeping across Colorado, with some areas forecasted to receive up to a foot of accumulation by early Tuesday morning. Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for several counties, warning of hazardous travel conditions.
The National Weather Service (NWS) reports that areas such as the Southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Wet Mountains could see snow totals ranging from 3 to 12 inches by 5 a.m. Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Wet Mountain Valley and areas near Pikes Peak are expecting 4 to 8 inches of additional snowfall. Lower elevations, including Pueblo and Colorado Springs, are forecasted to receive 2 to 6 inches of snow.
According to the NWS, the snowstorm will significantly impact the Monday evening commute, with slippery roads and reduced visibility likely. Travelers are urged to use caution and check the latest road conditions by dialing 511 or visiting local Department of Transportation websites.
The advisories for lower elevations will expire by 10 p.m. Monday, but snowfall in higher elevations is expected to continue through early Tuesday morning. Residents should prepare for delays and difficult driving conditions overnight.
