Pueblo, CO – Snow is expected to arrive across the Colorado high country on Christmas Day, potentially complicating holiday travel plans. A mix of rain and snow showers will spread from the mountains onto the plains, including along I-25, by Christmas evening and continue overnight. The National Weather Service reports a 70% to 90% chance of snowfall in the mountains, with accumulations up to six inches in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service, warm surface temperatures on the plains could result in most precipitation falling as rain. However, slick road conditions remain a concern near mountain passes and areas north of the Continental Divide. Motorists traveling on Christmas are urged to monitor forecasts and plan for potential delays.

Looking ahead, southern Colorado will see temperatures slightly above seasonal norms earlier in the week. Pueblo will reach highs near 55°F on Tuesday, with lows dipping to 27°F overnight. Christmas Day will bring a high of 53°F, with a 20% chance of showers after 11 a.m. Rain and snow showers become more likely after sunset, particularly for mountain regions.

The weather will turn drier by Thursday, with highs in the low 50s and partly sunny skies. Another chance of snow returns Friday morning before clearing by the weekend. Residents and travelers should check updates frequently, especially if traveling over mountain roads like I-70 and U.S. 285, where conditions could worsen quickly.

Stay informed to ensure safe holiday travel and prepare for shifting weather conditions throughout the week.
