Grand Junction, CO – Residents in northwest Colorado can expect clear skies and mild temperatures today before snow showers return on Thursday. Those traveling along Interstate 70 or higher mountain passes should plan for potential delays and hazardous conditions later this week.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, snow is forecast to begin Thursday evening, with the heaviest accumulations expected over the San Juan Mountains and surrounding high-elevation areas. A second, stronger system may bring widespread snowfall by Saturday evening, increasing travel risks throughout the region.

Today will remain sunny, with a high near 40 degrees and light southeast winds. Overnight lows will dip to 17 degrees under partly cloudy skies. Thursday’s forecast predicts highs of 41 degrees in Grand Junction, with snow developing late in the day as temperatures drop into the teens overnight.

Friday will see cooler temperatures, with highs near 39 degrees and slight chances of lingering snow showers. The weekend storm could bring significant snowfall to mountain passes, making conditions challenging for drivers and outdoor enthusiasts.

The extended forecast suggests sunny skies returning on Monday, but temperatures will remain cooler, with highs in the upper 30s. Residents are encouraged to check local updates before traveling and to carry essential safety supplies if venturing into higher elevations.
