DENVER, Colo. – A quick-moving winter system will blanket the Front Range with several inches of snow from midnight Tuesday night until 6 p.m. Wednesday, likely disrupting both the morning and evening commutes across the Denver metro area.

According to the National Weather Service in Denver, a Winter Weather Advisory takes effect overnight Tuesday, covering Jefferson, Boulder, Douglas, Arapahoe, and Adams counties. Snow totals are expected to range between 2 and 7 inches, with the heaviest amounts across the southern foothills and the Palmer Divide, including areas near Castle Rock, Evergreen, and Highlands Ranch.

Forecasters warn of slick, snow-covered roads developing before sunrise Wednesday. The Colorado Department of Transportation advises drivers to allow extra travel time, slow down, and prepare for reduced visibility during heavier bursts of snow. Conditions may stay slick through the evening as temperatures remain below freezing.

Residents in the foothills should also prepare for localized blowing snow and minor drifting on exposed roads. Light snow may linger into late Wednesday before tapering off along I-25 and I-70.

Officials recommend keeping emergency kits in vehicles and checking cotrip.org or dialing 511 for real-time travel updates. Commuters are urged to work remotely if possible Wednesday morning as the storm impacts the Denver metro corridor.
