Denver, CO – Colorado residents should prepare for gusty winds and snow this weekend, particularly in the mountains and foothills. The National Weather Service warns of hazardous travel conditions Sunday as winds could reach 60 mph and snow accumulations may total 3-6 inches in higher elevations.

According to the National Weather Service, the strongest winds will develop Saturday evening and peak overnight into Sunday. Travelers along I-70 and other mountain routes should expect reduced visibility and icy roads. Conditions will worsen Sunday evening as snow moves in, especially across the Front Range foothills and higher terrain.

The urban corridor will see mild temperatures, with highs near 58 on Saturday and 55 on Sunday. Breezy conditions will persist through Sunday, but snowfall is not expected in the Denver metro area. By Monday, sunny skies will return, though temperatures will cool slightly to a high of 53 degrees.

For the week ahead, a warming trend will develop midweek, with highs reaching the low 60s by Thursday. However, overnight lows will remain near freezing, so early-morning commuters should watch for icy spots, particularly in shaded areas.

Residents planning mountain activities should exercise caution as gusts and snow may make driving and outdoor recreation dangerous. The NWS advises travelers to check for road closures and carry emergency kits, including blankets and water, when heading into higher elevations.
