Colorado Springs, CO – A warm and windy Sunday will set the stage for an active weather pattern across southern Colorado, with fire danger increasing before rain and snow return by midweek. Residents should prepare for gusty winds and dry conditions Sunday before a shift to colder, wetter weather on Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service, Sunday will be sunny with highs near 61°F in Colorado Springs and 73°F in lower elevations. West-southwest winds will increase in the afternoon, with gusts reaching 35 mph. Monday, St. Patrick’s Day, will remain warm but breezy, with temperatures in the upper 50s to 70s. Fire danger will be highest east of the mountains along the I-25 corridor.

By Tuesday afternoon, a strong system will bring scattered rain showers to lower elevations and snow to the mountains. Blowing dust and high winds are expected ahead of the front. Tuesday night into Wednesday, snow will spread across the Palmer Divide and eastern El Paso County, with potential travel disruptions.

The extended forecast shows cooler conditions persisting into midweek, with highs dropping into the 50s by Wednesday. Skies will clear by Thursday, with a return to milder temperatures.

Travelers should monitor road conditions, especially along I-25, and be prepared for changing weather. Fire safety precautions are advised on Sunday and Monday due to dry, windy conditions.
