Denver, CO – Northern Colorado is bracing for two rounds of snow, bringing a total of up to 12 inches and dangerous blowing snow through Monday evening. Residents and travelers should prepare for hazardous conditions, particularly in mountain areas.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the region, including Rocky Mountain National Park, Berthoud Pass, and the Eisenhower Tunnel. The first round of snow, expected to conclude Sunday morning, will leave up to 4 inches. A second wave arriving Sunday night could bring an additional 8 inches by late Monday. Gusty winds up to 70 mph will create blowing snow, significantly reducing visibility and making travel treacherous.
Officials recommend avoiding unnecessary travel in affected areas and checking road conditions via Colorado’s 511 system or cotrip.org. The advisory notes that snow-covered roads and rapidly changing conditions could create delays or accidents for those driving through high-elevation passes.
In Denver, conditions will remain dry but windy on Monday, with gusts up to 55 mph and a high near 47°F. Cooler weather and clearer skies are expected heading into New Year’s Day, providing some relief after a challenging start to the week.
Plan ahead and stay updated on weather developments to ensure safety as the storms move through the state.
