Denver, CO – Strong winds and light snowfall are set to impact Colorado through the weekend, with conditions varying across the state.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Denver, light mountain snow will taper off Thursday morning, adding less than 2 inches of accumulation. However, by Thursday night, westerly downslope winds in the Front Range Mountains and foothills may produce gusts of up to 60 mph.
Snowfall is expected to return Friday evening, bringing slick travel conditions to the region. NWS Pueblo reports the heaviest snow will occur in northern mountains and foothills, with several inches possible. Areas along the I-25 corridor may see light snow Saturday into early Sunday, though totals are expected to remain under 1 inch. Roads could still become icy, especially overnight.
Drivers are urged to use caution during peak wind and snow events. Prepare vehicles with emergency kits, and allow extra travel time. Winds may impact visibility in foothill areas.
The weather is expected to remain active into next week, with intermittent snow showers along the Continental Divide through Wednesday. Updates will be provided as conditions evolve.
