Grand Junction, Colorado – Gusty winds are sweeping through much of eastern Utah and western Colorado today, with wind gusts reaching 35 to 50 mph. The National Weather Service has issued Wind Advisories for areas across northeastern Utah, and northwestern and central western Colorado, including valleys and mountain foothills.

According to the National Weather Service, these strong winds will persist through the afternoon. Along with these winds, the region is experiencing a dangerously dry air mass, leading to elevated fire risks. Red Flag Warnings are in effect from noon until 8 p.m. tonight, warning of critical fire weather conditions due to low humidity levels and high winds.

Travelers should be cautious, as blowing dust and debris could cause reduced visibility, especially on Interstate 70 and Interstate 15. The gusty winds could also impact outdoor activities, including fire safety and recreational planning.

Stay alert for changing conditions, and avoid outdoor burning during this time. Keep a fire extinguisher handy and remain aware of local advisories for any updated warnings.

Expect the wind threat to diminish by tonight, but further advisories may be issued depending on conditions.
