Pueblo, CO – A shift in weather patterns will bring strong winds and light snow to parts of southern Colorado on Friday, affecting travel and outdoor plans.

According to the National Weather Service, a storm system is set to spread light snow over the Continental Divide and higher elevations of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected by Friday evening. Wind gusts will reach 50 to 65 mph in areas near the southern Sangres, particularly along I-25 and other mountain passes. Travelers should prepare for hazardous conditions, including strong crosswinds and slick roads on Fremont and Monarch Passes.

High temperatures on Friday will remain near 51°F in Pueblo with sunny skies. Conditions will turn cooler overnight, with lows around 24°F. Looking ahead, the weekend promises sunny weather, with highs peaking at 60°F by Sunday. Winds will gradually ease by Saturday, offering more pleasant conditions for outdoor activities.

Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor items vulnerable to high winds and monitor road conditions before traveling. The Colorado Department of Transportation advises caution, especially for high-profile vehicles traveling through the I-25 corridor.

For early next week, temperatures will stay mild, with highs reaching the mid-50s under mostly sunny skies. Snow is not expected beyond Friday, making the weekend an ideal time for safe recreation.

Stay informed with updates from the National Weather Service and ensure safety precautions are in place if heading into high-elevation areas or traveling along Colorado’s major highways.
