Colorado Weather Alert: Snow and High Winds Expected in Sawatch and Mosquito Ranges Tonight

Pueblo, CO – A winter disturbance is set to bring light snow and high winds to southern Colorado’s mountains starting tonight. Travelers in the Sawatch and Mosquito ranges should prepare for gusty conditions and snowfall up to three inches by Sunday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, breezy to windy conditions will develop tonight and persist through Sunday, particularly at higher elevations. Snow accumulation of one to three inches is expected above 10,000 feet, creating potentially hazardous travel conditions. Drivers on US Route 24 near Leadville should exercise caution.

Sunday’s forecast for Pueblo includes mostly sunny skies with a high near 59°F. Winds will increase to 10-15 mph, primarily from the west. Overnight, temperatures will drop to 24°F with lighter winds.

Looking ahead, Monday will bring cooler temperatures with a high near 48°F, but conditions will remain clear and calm. A slight chance of snow showers is forecast Tuesday night.
