Denver, Colorado – Afternoon thunderstorms could disrupt commutes and outdoor plans across the Denver metro area Thursday, with gusty winds expected by 2 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms will develop after noon Thursday, especially along the I-25 corridor and higher elevations west of the city. Winds may gust as high as 17 mph as isolated high-based storms build across the Front Range.
Residents in Adams, Arapahoe, and Jefferson counties should stay weather-aware Thursday afternoon. The storm risk continues into Thursday night with partly cloudy skies and a low near 59°F. Drivers should watch for reduced visibility during downpours and strong wind gusts, particularly along I-70 and I-25 corridors.
While storm coverage remains scattered through Friday, temperatures will remain summer-like. Denver is expected to reach 88°F Thursday and 87°F Friday before peaking at 92°F Saturday. Another round of afternoon storms is possible Friday before a drier, sunnier weekend sets in.
Prepare for a warmer trend into next week. Highs will push into the low-to-mid 90s Sunday and Monday with isolated storms returning Monday afternoon and again Tuesday.
