Pueblo, CO – A Red Flag Warning has been issued for parts of Colorado, with high fire danger expected this afternoon and evening due to gusty northwest winds and extremely dry conditions. The alert will be in effect from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. for the San Luis Valley and Eastern Huerfano County.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service Pueblo, winds are expected to blow from the northwest at 15-25 mph, with gusts reaching up to 40 mph. Relative humidity levels could drop as low as 12% in some areas, significantly increasing the risk of wildfire. Authorities are urging residents to avoid any activities that could start a fire during this critical time.

The affected regions include parts of southern Colorado, with the warning covering much of the San Luis Valley and the eastern portion of Huerfano County. Firefighting resources may be limited due to the high winds, and any fires that start during this time could spread rapidly.

Residents are advised to take extra precautions and refrain from outdoor burning or any other activities that could pose a fire risk.
