Colorado Weather Alert: Red Flag Warning Hits Pueblo, Fremont Counties Today Through 9 PM Friday

Pueblo, CO – Dangerous fire conditions are gripping southern Colorado as a Red Flag Warning remains in effect until 9 p.m. Friday.

Strong southwest winds between 10 to 20 mph, gusting as high as 35 mph, are combining with humidity levels as low as 8% to create ideal conditions for rapid wildfire spread, especially in Fire Weather Zones 222 and 228.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, the warning impacts areas including Canon City, Howard, Texas Creek, and Pueblo along the US-50 corridor. The alert began at noon Friday and includes elevated fire danger through this evening. Outdoor burning and any activities that could produce sparks are strongly discouraged.

Saturday brings a 30% chance of showers after 3 p.m., with highs dropping to the low 70s. Winds will shift north at 5 to 10 mph. Saturday night may see more rain, mainly before midnight, with temps falling into the upper 30s.

Looking ahead, Sunday will be cooler with highs in the upper 50s and a 40% chance of showers. Monday rebounds to sunny skies and highs in the upper 60s. Gusty winds return Tuesday, with gusts up to 40 mph and a slight chance of rain overnight.
