Denver, CO – Light snow is expected to make a return to Colorado’s southern foothills and Palmer Divide starting Tuesday morning. Forecasters warn of slippery road conditions in higher elevations, creating potential hazards for drivers.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Boulder, the heaviest snow is expected over Rabbit Ears Pass, with accumulations ranging from 3 to 4 inches in mountain regions. Snowfall in lower elevations, including the foothills, is likely to remain lighter, with minimal accumulation. Motorists are advised to drive cautiously, particularly in areas like I-70 near the Divide, where conditions could rapidly deteriorate.

Temperatures will remain cold, with highs only reaching the upper 30s on Tuesday. Winds will add to the chill, gusting up to 15 mph. For those traveling in the mountains, plan ahead and carry winter gear, as visibility may also be reduced during snowfall.

Looking ahead, the weather is expected to stabilize Wednesday, with sunny skies and a high near 53 degrees. Thursday and Friday will continue the warming trend, with temperatures climbing into the mid-50s and mostly sunny skies.

Residents should remain vigilant for changing conditions through Tuesday evening, as snow could linger in the mountains and continue to impact roads. Stay updated on the latest forecasts and consider postponing non-essential travel in snowy areas.
