Colorado Springs, CO – Bitter cold and scattered snow showers will grip Colorado through Thursday, bringing hazardous conditions across the region. Wind chills could drop as low as -25°F in some areas, increasing the risk of frostbite in under 20 minutes.
According to the National Weather Service, light snow will continue Wednesday into Thursday, with the highest accumulations in the central mountains. The eastern plains could see up to an inch of new snow, while icy roads and low visibility may impact commuters along I-25 and nearby highways.
By Thursday afternoon, a slight warming trend will begin, but temperatures will still struggle to reach the low 30s. Wind chills will remain in the negative single digits, particularly in the early morning and late evening hours.
Looking ahead, a more significant warm-up is expected this weekend, with highs climbing into the 50s and 60s by Saturday and Sunday. This shift will provide a temporary spring-like break from the deep freeze.
Travelers and residents should bundle up, limit outdoor exposure, and check road conditions before heading out. Stay tuned for updates as conditions evolve.
