Pueblo, Colo. – Afternoon thunderstorms are expected to develop across central and southern Colorado each day through Saturday, bringing the threat of small hail, gusty winds, and dangerous lightning.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, scattered showers and isolated storms could emerge as early as Monday afternoon, with higher chances during the evenings across the Eastern San Juan Mountains, the Sangre de Cristo Range, and into the San Luis and Arkansas Valleys. Areas below 11,000 feet—including Canon City, Colorado Springs, and Pueblo—may also experience brief but intense weather.
In Pueblo, daily highs will approach 90°F with humidity around 70%, adding instability to the atmosphere. Light north winds will shift southeast by midweek. Storms may remain isolated but could intensify rapidly, especially in mountainous regions from Fremont to Teller and Huerfano counties.
Drivers should watch for reduced visibility and slick roads during downpours. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items and avoid open areas during lightning activity. While rain offers relief from early summer heat, the main hazards remain wind and lightning.
Storm chances remain elevated through Saturday, with clearer skies expected by Sunday. No severe weather watches are currently in effect, but updates may follow.
