Grand Junction, Colo. – Western Colorado is baking under rising heat this weekend, with Grand Junction expected to reach 95°F Saturday and Moab pushing near 98°F by the afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, a warming trend will persist through early next week as high pressure strengthens across the region. Rain chances will remain near zero through Monday, except for isolated thunderstorms over the San Juan Mountains during the afternoon hours.

Cities across the Western Slope, including Durango (89°), Aspen (82°), and Crested Butte (76°), will also see above-average heat. In eastern Utah, Vernal could hit 92°F. Residents are urged to drink water regularly, wear light-colored clothing, limit strenuous activity during peak hours, and seek shade or air conditioning to avoid heat-related illness.

Afternoon storms in the San Juans may offer brief relief but will be short-lived and isolated. No widespread rain is expected until later next week, if at all.

High temperatures are expected to persist into early next week, with little relief in sight. Additional advisories may be issued if conditions intensify.
