Colorado Springs, Colo. – Showers and isolated thunderstorms could disrupt evening plans across southern Colorado starting Tuesday, with the highest storm chances hitting the Colorado Springs area Thursday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, a 20% chance of storms begins after noon Tuesday and continues into the evening, increasing to 50% by Thursday. Areas west and south of downtown, including neighborhoods along U.S. 24 and I-25, could see rain, brief gusts, and lightning during the evening commute.
Sunny skies and calm winds Monday will give way to partly cloudy conditions Monday night. By Tuesday, wind gusts may reach up to 15 mph, shifting from southwest to north through midweek. Temperatures will stay mild, peaking near 69°F Tuesday and 72°F Wednesday, but scattered moisture could make roads slick in localized areas.
Residents are advised to stay alert for lightning and avoid outdoor activity during storm windows. Drivers should slow down on wet roads and be cautious near construction zones and underpasses prone to pooling water.
Storm chances taper off slightly Friday, but more showers may develop into the weekend. The National Weather Service recommends monitoring updates as midweek systems evolve.
