Pueblo, CO – Strong winds and dry conditions will create dangerous fire weather in Pueblo and surrounding areas Tuesday, with gusts up to 70 mph expected. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued both a Red Flag Warning and a High Wind Warning, urging residents to secure loose objects, avoid open flames, and prepare for potential power outages.
According to the NWS, the Red Flag Warning will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, with humidity dropping as low as 11%, making fire conditions extreme. Southwest winds will range from 25 to 30 mph, with gusts reaching 50 mph. The High Wind Warning, in place from 2 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, predicts north winds of 40 to 45 mph, with gusts up to 70 mph. These strong winds could topple trees and power lines, creating hazardous travel conditions, particularly for high-profile vehicles on I-25 and U.S. Highway 50.
