Denver, CO –Dry air, warm temps, and gusty winds are creating elevated fire weather conditions across northeast and north-central Colorado starting Tuesday. Residents from the Denver metro to the foothills, including areas near I-25 and I-70, should prepare for spring wildfire risk through Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, temperatures will climb into the 70s Tuesday through Friday, paired with breezy conditions. Tuesday and Wednesday will bring the most immediate concern, as west-northwest winds of up to 21 mph are expected during the day. The fire risk will expand into South Park by Thursday and linger into Saturday due to the persistent dry spell and above-normal temperatures.

Residents in Boulder, Jefferson, Douglas, and Elbert counties are urged to avoid outdoor burning and remain alert for fire weather warnings. No rain is forecast through the weekend, and humidity levels will remain low. Even minor sparks could ignite fast-moving grass fires.
