Pueblo, Colo. – A Red Flag Warning remains in effect across much of southern and eastern Colorado today as gusty winds and extremely low humidity create critical fire conditions through 8 p.m. Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, winds will gust between 30 and 40 mph along the I-25 corridor, the San Luis Valley, and the eastern plains by late this morning. Relative humidity is expected to drop into the single digits, sharply increasing the risk for rapid wildfire growth.

Communities from Trinidad to Colorado Springs, including Pueblo and La Junta, are under the warning. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged, and residents are urged to secure loose items and stay alert for potential evacuation orders. Drivers along I-25, U.S. 50, and U.S. 160 should use extra caution, as blowing dust could reduce visibility.

Temperatures will stay slightly above normal, with highs reaching the 70s in most areas. A cold front arriving this evening will bring cooler, unsettled weather into midweek, with a few showers possible over the mountains.

Warnings remain in effect until 8 p.m., and additional advisories could follow as conditions evolve through Tuesday.
