Pueblo, CO — Colorado is bracing for near-record temperatures today, with Pueblo expected to hit 96°F, just shy of a record set in 2020. Colorado Springs could see 89°F, while Alamosa may reach 81°F. The National Weather Service in Pueblo announced that slightly cooler conditions and isolated mountain storms are expected to arrive tomorrow.
According to the National Weather Service, the current standing heat records were set in 2020. Although today’s temperatures will come close, they are not expected to break those records. The heatwave is impacting several cities, including Canon City, Lamar, and Trinidad, with temperatures ranging from 86°F to 93°F.
Meteorologists anticipate cooler weather starting Friday, with temperatures gradually dropping through the weekend. Meanwhile, residents should be prepared for potentially dangerous heat levels and possible mountain storms, especially in areas with outdoor activities planned.
The forecast includes high temperatures through Saturday, but a gradual relief is expected by the start of next week.
