Denver, Colorado – Rain-soaked roads and gusty winds will dominate the Denver metro area this week as a prolonged storm system stalls over the Front Range through Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, showers begin in earnest Monday and continue through Wednesday, with a 100% chance of rain on Tuesday and gusts reaching up to 24 mph. While the Denver metro will see soaking rain, accumulating snow is expected above 9,000 feet in the nearby mountains, creating potential travel delays along I-70 and U.S. 285.

Monday’s high will reach 62°F under cloudy skies, with scattered thunderstorms possible by late afternoon. Rain intensifies overnight into Tuesday, accompanied by strong winds from the southeast. Tuesday will be the wettest day, with widespread rain and embedded thunderstorms expected throughout the day and night. Cooler air could lower snow levels to around 7,000 feet by Tuesday night.

By Wednesday, showers continue with a 70% chance and lingering thunderstorms possible into the evening. Though the severe storm risk remains low, wind and visibility will impact travel across I-25, E-470, and U.S. 36.

5-Day Denver Forecast:

  • Tuesday: Heavy rain, high 54°F, gusts to 22 mph
  • Wednesday: Showers continue, high 58°F
  • Thursday: Chance of showers, high 68°F
  • Friday: Slight chance of PM storms, high 74°F
