Denver, CO – Several Colorado cities are set to experience near-record high temperatures today as a heatwave persists across the region. Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins are forecasted to reach or exceed 90 degrees, a rare occurrence for this time of year.
According to the US National Weather Service in Denver/Boulder, Denver could hit 91°F, surpassing the previous record of 90°F. Boulder and Fort Collins are expected to tie their records at 90°F. Residents across the I-25 corridor are urged to stay hydrated and cool, as the stretch of warm weather continues to impact the region.
Slightly cooler conditions are expected by Friday, with temperatures forecasted to dip into the mid-80s. However, the heatwave is likely to persist into the weekend and early next week, with above-average temperatures forecasted through Tuesday.
These higher-than-usual temperatures in late September are part of a larger pattern of unseasonably warm weather gripping much of the western U.S. For those planning outdoor activities, officials recommend limiting strenuous tasks during peak heat hours and staying in shaded or air-conditioned areas when possible.
