Grand Junction, Colo. – Temperatures in Grand Junction are set to climb toward 96°F by Saturday, raising concerns about dry conditions and fire weather risk across western Colorado. A slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms today offers little relief ahead of a prolonged stretch of hot, sunny days.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, isolated showers are possible between noon and 3 p.m. Wednesday, with another chance of storms after 3 p.m. Skies will then clear overnight, leading into a warming trend. Highs will hit 90°F Thursday and climb to 94°F by Friday, peaking near 96°F on Saturday.

The warm, dry weather is expected to impact outdoor activity and increase fire danger, especially in grassy or brush-covered areas around Mesa County. Residents are urged to avoid open flames, secure trailers to prevent sparks, and limit outdoor work during the hottest part of the day.

Winds remain mostly light this week, but low humidity and dry vegetation could still elevate fire risk through the weekend. No red flag warnings have been issued yet, but conditions will be monitored closely.

Sunny skies and highs in the mid-90s will persist through Sunday. A slight cooldown with showers may arrive Monday.
