Steamboat Springs, CO – The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Watch for northwest Colorado, including the Yampa River Basin. Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28 degrees are expected late Thursday night through Friday morning.

The watch impacts several areas, including Steamboat Springs, Hayden, Craig, Meeker, Dinosaur, and Rangely. According to the National Weather Service, these freezing conditions could kill crops and sensitive vegetation. Unprotected outdoor plumbing may also face damage if proper precautions are not taken.

Local residents should take action now to protect plants and outdoor equipment. Covering tender plants or moving them indoors can help prevent frost damage. Draining and insulating outdoor pipes is recommended to avoid freeze-related damage. The Freeze Watch will remain in effect until Friday morning.
