Pueblo, CO – Colorado residents can expect unseasonably warm weather today, but changes are on the horizon as snow moves in tonight. Temperatures will reach the mid-60s across the plains and 50s in mountain valleys Sunday, about 20 degrees above normal.
According to the National Weather Service, snow is expected to develop over the central mountains late tonight, bringing gusty winds and potentially hazardous travel conditions over mountain passes. If traveling, plan for reduced visibility and slippery roads. The plains will remain dry, but winds and low humidity in Huerfano County could spark brief critical fire weather conditions Sunday afternoon. Avoid outdoor burning.
Monday will remain mild, with highs in the mid-50s and calm conditions across most of the region. For Christmas Day on Wednesday, expect a high near 57 degrees with mostly sunny skies. However, by Wednesday night, an eastern Pacific system is forecast to bring a mix of rain and snow showers to the region, which could linger into Thursday.
Looking further into the week, conditions will cool slightly, with highs in the low 50s through Friday and the weekend. Those traveling for the holidays should remain cautious as Wednesday night’s rain and snow mix could lead to slick roads, especially in higher elevations.
For up-to-date weather alerts and forecasts, check with local agencies and prepare for sudden changes, especially if you’re traveling through mountain areas this week.
