Pueblo, CO – A Red Flag Warning has been issued for multiple counties in Colorado, including Pueblo, Colorado Springs, and Canon City, as critical fire weather conditions are expected Monday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, the warning will be in effect from noon to 6 p.m. MDT on Monday due to strong winds and low relative humidity. Areas affected include the Upper Arkansas River Valley, Teller County, Fremont County, Southern El Paso County, Huerfano County, Crowley County, and Kiowa County.
Winds from the west are forecasted to reach speeds of 10 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph. Coupled with humidity levels dropping as low as 6%, these conditions create an elevated risk for fast-spreading wildfires.
Officials warn that any fires that ignite could grow rapidly. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning, properly discard cigarettes, and secure any flammable materials.
A Red Flag Warning indicates that critical fire conditions are either ongoing or imminent. Authorities advise residents to remain vigilant and report any signs of smoke or fire immediately.
For updates and safety tips, residents should monitor local weather reports and follow guidance from emergency management officials.
