Detroit, MI – Snow showers and freezing conditions are set to impact southeast Michigan this weekend, bringing potential travel hazards and bitterly cold winds. Residents along the I-94 corridor should prepare for scattered snow flurries, icy roads, and wind chills plunging into the teens.
According to the National Weather Service, Saturday’s high temperatures will hover between 28 and 32 degrees, with flurries expected in areas from Ann Arbor to Port Huron. Sunday offers slight relief with highs near 35 degrees, but lows will dip into the 20s overnight. Gusty winds will make temperatures feel even colder.
Looking ahead, lake-effect snow showers are expected to resume by Tuesday night, with accumulation of one to two inches possible. Wednesday brings the greatest likelihood for snowfall, making midweek travel potentially treacherous, particularly on major roadways like I-75 and I-69. Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time and exercise caution during morning and evening commutes.
The cold pattern persists into Thursday and Friday, with highs staying in the low-to-mid 30s and overnight lows in the teens. Sunshine may break through occasionally but won’t provide much warmth as brisk winds continue to grip the region.
Residents are encouraged to layer clothing, bring pets indoors, and check on vulnerable neighbors during these frigid conditions. Be sure to clear snow from sidewalks and driveways to avoid ice buildup and stay updated on changing forecasts by monitoring the National Weather Service.
